The Museum of the Cities of the World believes that children are not only the citizens of tomorrow. They are citizens of the present, capable of observing, questioning and imagining how our cities could become more beautiful, inclusive and sustainable.

SOU | School of Architecture for Children
SOU | School of Architecture for Children was founded at FARM Cultural Park in Favara in 2016, from a simple yet radical belief: children should not only inherit the cities created by adults, but should have the opportunity to understand, question and help transform them. Through encounters and workshops with architects, artists, designers and educators, children explore architecture as a language for discussing cities, public space, environment, inclusion and the ways in which we live together. Over the past ten years, SOU has spread from Favara to cities across Italy, becoming a national network of local schools united by a shared educational vision: listening seriously to children, nurturing their imagination and helping them recognise their ability to change the places they inhabit.
SOU | School of Architecture for Children nasce a FARM Cultural Park, a Favara, nel 2016, a partire da una convinzione semplice e radicale: i bambini e le bambine non devono soltanto ereditare le città costruite dagli adulti, ma devono avere l’opportunità di comprenderle, interrogarle e contribuire a trasformarle. Attraverso incontri e laboratori con architetti, artisti, designer ed educatori, i bambini esplorano l’architettura come linguaggio per parlare di città, spazio pubblico, ambiente, inclusione e modi di vivere insieme. Why SOU?
The School is named SOU in honour of “Sou” Fujimoto, one of the world’s most influential contemporary architects. His open and imaginative approach to architecture—exploring the relationships between people, nature and space—reflects the curiosity and freedom of thought that SOU seeks to nurture in every child.
La Scuola si chiama SOU in omaggio a “Sou” Fujimoto, uno dei più importanti architetti contemporanei al mondo. Il suo approccio aperto e immaginativo all’architettura, fondato sulle relazioni tra persone, natura e spazio, riflette la curiosità e la libertà di pensiero che SOU desidera coltivare in ogni bambino.

A blue space for imagination
Inside the Museum of the Cities of the World, SOU has a new home: an immersive, all-blue pavilion dedicated to creativity, dreams and the transformative power of imagination.
Here, children can explore cities through play, drawing, storytelling, making and collective experimentation. They are invited not only to learn about the city, but to express their own desires and propose new ways of inhabiting it.
The pavilion is not simply a space for children inside a museum. It is a place that gives value and visibility to their ideas, recognising them as active participants in the present and future of our cities.
All’interno del Museo delle Città del Mondo, SOU ha una nuova casa: un padiglione immersivo, interamente azzurro, dedicato alla creatività, ai sogni e al potere trasformativo dell’immaginazione.
Qui bambini e bambine possono esplorare le città attraverso il gioco, il disegno, il racconto, il fare e la sperimentazione collettiva. Sono invitati non soltanto a conoscere la città, ma a esprimere i propri desideri e proporre nuovi modi di abitarla.
Il padiglione non è semplicemente uno spazio per bambini all’interno di un museo. È un luogo che attribuisce valore e visibilità alle loro idee, riconoscendoli come protagonisti attivi del presente e del futuro delle nostre città.

What if children redesigned cities through kindness? The new year of SOU invites them to imagine more welcoming, inclusive and peaceful spaces that respect all forms of life. Through architecture, art, design and creativity, they will become young citymakers, transforming streets, schools, gardens and abandoned places into spaces of care, encounter and belonging. Because kindness, too, can become a form of architecture.
E se fossero i bambini a riprogettare le città attraverso la gentilezza? La nuova edizione di SOU li invita a immaginare spazi più accoglienti, inclusivi, pacifici e rispettosi di tutte le forme di vita. Attraverso architettura, arte, design e creatività, diventeranno giovani citymakers, capaci di trasformare strade, scuole, giardini e luoghi abbandonati in spazi di cura, incontro e appartenenza. Become a Young Citymaker
SOU Palermo welcomes curious children who want to explore architecture, art, cities and the world around them. Through workshops, encounters and collective projects, they will learn to observe, imagine and transform the places they inhabit.
SOU Palermo accoglie bambini e bambine curiosi di esplorare l’architettura, l’arte, le città e il mondo che li circonda. Attraverso laboratori, incontri e progetti collettivi, impareranno a osservare, immaginare e trasformare i luoghi che abitano.

SOU Palermo is open to children aged 7 to 12.
No previous knowledge or special skills are required—only curiosity and a desire to imagine.
SOU Palermo è per bambini e bambine dai 7 ai 12 anni.

Lessons take place once a week, every Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm, from late September to early June.
Le lezioni si svolgono una volta alla settimana, ogni venerdì dalle 15 alle 18, dalla fine di settembre ai primi di giugno.

The programme includes creative workshops, urban explorations and encounters with architects, artists, designers, educators and citymakers.
