In a world fractured by war, inequality and polarisation, the fourth edition explored culture and human relationships as forces capable of resisting conflict and rebuilding trust.
Its pavilions connected cities, communities and humanitarian crises from around the world, transforming the Biennial into an increasingly active platform for cultural diplomacy, peace and human rights.

The inaugural edition shifted the geography of the Biennial from nations to cities, beginning with Africa and its extraordinary urban diversity.
Through architecture, photography, research and cultural activism, Countless Cities explored emerging forms of leadership, urban resilience, youth movements and social innovation—challenging the stereotypes through which the continent is too often represented.
